We would like to welcome our dad transcriptionist here in The Transcriptionists’ Profiles, a series of interviews with people who are working as transcriptionists. My name is Archie, the author/administrator of Transcriptionist Hub.
In this article, we have Mr. Arby Ray Santiago. He is a General Transcriptionist from the Philippines (Benguet Province).
He’s been working as a transcriptionist for more than 2 years. He’s been referred by a friend who’s in the field of transcription before. The factors that prompted him to pursue a career in this field are to try in a new work environment, to improve typing skills, listening skills and grammar as well.
Arby prefers to work home based because he wants to work while watching his daughter since they do not have a babysitter and his wife is in training in another place for her work. As well to try if this kind of work would suit for him since he never tried working at home before.
When asked which among transcription work most appeal to his interest, he prefers general (Business, podcasts, interviews) or Legal Transcription.
The most important characteristic or quality to become an effective and productive transcriptionist according to Arby is to listen properly and know the environment that you’re working on.
He also states that just be flexible anytime and become a hardworking person and listen properly to the audio that will be given or assigned to you.
