Become an Audio Transcriptionist for Career Diversity

In this article, I will feature my interview with Karla. She has no current experience as audio transcriptionist but she wants to have a career diversity. From the time of this writing, she is a Customer Support Professional employee in a BPO company for a year or more. She is currently located in San Juan City, Metro Manila in the Philippines.

Karla states, I honestly do not have an experience of being a transcriptionist but I really want to have a career diversity. For me, I have the edge to be a transcriptionist since I am doing a chat support from a Telco company and I have an excellent typing speed skill. I really want to try this job aside from the fact that it is a high paying job. I want to develop my skills on this field and I am looking forward to having a career growth on this kind of industry since we have a rapid growth in this line of job.

At first, she wants to work in the office wherein she will have the chance to interact with other people. For Karla, it is one of the best ways that she will easily learn and develop herself in this field. Once she is fully equipped, that is the time she will work at home as an audio transcriptionist.

The audio transcription work that is most appealing to her interest is General Transcription.

I just had with me some small meals to keep me working. I don’t think there is a general rule whether a medical transcriptionist is allowed to eat in their workstation. It’s a matter of company’s policies whether or not a workstation is also a place for snacks. I guess, I never had a below 98% accuracy due to drinking my oatmeal/milk drink in the morning or I never had a misheard due to my consistent munching a tuna sandwich with low-fat dressing and lettuce at lunch. Maybe sometimes my typing speed has been below 60 wpm due to nibbling my Skyflakes. Just a thought. But what’s really the rule of taking your meal in your workstation? The basic rule applies to all companies and businesses including any transcription company. This is to practice office etiquette. That is why a majority of transcription companies abide by ...
