Quality Work at Early Age

'' Here’s a sentiment of one of our readers about her view regarding the priority of quality versus quantity work in audio transcription. Mary Jane shared this to us way back for her job application in ad DOTCOM TransWrite team transcriptionist.'' We are in a world full of trials and adversities. We are here, therefore, to live and survive, to win the world in our own little way. We work in order for us to live and we live to work. We all want to be successful. But how can a man be successful? Is it necessary for him to be perfect? When I was younger, I was trained to do things on my own, to try things in my own way and to discover everything I can without asking anybody’s help. This made me a person who always want everything to be perfect. This kind of training I had when I was young played a big role in my life. I always make sure that my work is satisfying, neat and precise. I value quality that much. It always feels good to look at something you have done perfect...

Value More Quality Over Quantity Transcription

A person who is honing his skill as a transcriptionist has to decide on which to choose between quality or quantity transcription. Some of the audio transcriptionists would definitely go for quality transcription. One may think that he will earn more in transcribing as many audio files as he can, but he’s wrong. A transcription is done in an abrupt manner usually causes too many errors, which could be the cause of it for rejection. The transcribed audio can be brought back to the transcriptionist himself again and again if it has low quality. Of course, he would be asked to edit or proofread the transcript or even worst to have someone to repeat the audio transcription all over again, which would be a waste of time and effort. If the transcriptionist had once and for all transcribed and made it of high quality at the first time, he wouldn’t have to do it again. Aside from saving time and effort, a good transcription would impress the one who would inspect your work, therefore giving yo...

LinkedIn Comments of Fellow Transcriptionist

Getting this comments from LinkedIn from my previous post about the traits of an effective transcriptionist. Aarj: It’s a whole package of a lot of things. A good transcriptionist/QA has to have tons of energy for this job coz one has to be on the toes all the time, intact nerves, friendly to the machine(that is computers), a medical background gives an upper edge especially when it comes to medical transcription plus a special interest/passion for transcription, and a lot of helping tools in the form of drug index, dictionaries, etc. the tools would, of course, vary for medical transcription, legal transcription, etc…. Julia: A good medical transcriptionist treats each report like it is his/her own. She/he remembers that behind the words and paper is a person so he/she does the best job she/he can. She/he realizes that mistakes in a report can and do cost lives. She/he also has to love what he/she does. If she/he doesn’t love it, she/he won’t be in it for long. Confidentiality is absolu...

Known Facts About Audio Transcription

Audio transcription has become one of the most popular home-based jobs locally and internationally. People apply as a transcriptionist with the knowledge that the only thing a transcriptionist has to do is jot down what is heard on the audio, not knowing the importance of the job itself. Aside from the easy yet detailed aspect of the work process, people apply for a transcriptionist job as their part-time work since it does not require any form of critical thinking unlike other well-known part-time jobs such as writing. A transcriptionist only needs to have good listening skills, be keen to details, and able to follow strict guidelines Are these all true in all aspects? Many enjoy the benefits of earning money as a transcriptionist but seldom do people understand why they need to write down each and every word of the audio they are listening to. Some do not even see the necessity of putting transcription symbols in inaudible words and, sometimes, in non-verbal cues. The importance of t...
